The Indonesian police will exert all efforts to bring back into the country a former insurance executive wanted for insurance fraud.

Joachim Wessling, former president and director of PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia, is facing a fraud charge over unpaid medical insurance claims. Wessling, a German citizen, failed to appear in front of the police despite being issued summonses twice this month.

According to Police Commissioner Adi Deriyan, director of special criminal investigation of the Jakarta Metro Police, investigators have confirmed that Wessling is no longer in Indonesia. However, he did not confirm the suspect’s exact location.

“From the info I received from investigators, [the suspect] is not in Indonesia but still in Asia,” Adi told Netral News. He added that Wessling is no longer with Allianz and is working with another insurance company. The Indonesian police will work with Interpol in order to bring the insurance executive back to the country to answer the allegations made against him.

Wessling and former Allianz Indonesia claims manager Yuliana Firmansyah are accused of breaching contracts and violating the Consumer Protection Law for allegedly refusing to grant two customers’ medical insurance claims and instead imposing additional requirements before they could receive their payouts.
