Markel International Singapore has appointed a new marine underwriter.

Gustaf Kristiansson will join the Singapore branch of the international firm from their Sweden office where he held the same position.

Previously, Kristiansson was based in Dubai and worked for Gulf Agency Co, an international shipping logistics firm and marine services company. He holds more than a decade of experience in the shipping and marine insurance industry.

Kristiansson will report to Matt Cannock, principal officer & managing director of Markel International Singapore, and will manage the marine hull and cargo portfolio across Asia Pacific for the firm.

Cannock said that the appointment of Kristiansson will help the business maintain its presence in the marine market in the region.

“It’s really important that we continue to be a marine market of choice across Asia Pacific and Gustaf will be key in delivering that,” Cannock said.
