MSIG Insurance (Hong Kong) has announced that it is speeding up and simplifying its claims process in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement, the insurer said that its online platform, EASY Claims, will allow customers to file claims in three steps. They can use a mobile device and upload supporting documents with ease. This also eliminates paperwork, which also helps preserve the environment. EASY Claims also has a ‘save as draft’ function, which allows customers to save their progress and return to their submission once they have collated all the necessary evidence.

The system will notify users of the status and progress of their claim through automated SMS messages. According to MSIG, the system reduces claims submitting times to as fast as 15 minutes, and will allow customers to receive their claims payouts much more quickly than before.

“Over the past three months in Hong Kong, we have witnessed how COVID-19 has affected people from all walks of life,” MSIG Hong Kong’s statement said. “It is fair to say that no industry remains untouched by the economic effects of the coronavirus outbreak, and its impact is now being felt across the world.”

“Despite everything that is happening in our city, one thing that remains unchanged is the need to have adequate insurance coverage in case something goes wrong. And although we all face disruptions to our daily lives, something that should never be an issue is making a claim with our insurers.”
