As Singapore relaxes its restrictions on essential and business travel, it is now offering COVID-19 insurance to short-term visitors, in case they contract the viral disease during their stay.

The product, known as ChangiAssure, offers up to SG$100,000 in hospitalisation cover, The Business Times reported. It is underwritten by HL Assurance and distributed by Changi Travel Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Changi Airport Group.

Singapore currently accepts travellers from Brunei, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and vice-versa for essential and business-related travel. Visitors from Australia (excluding Victoria), New Zealand, and Vietnam who have applied for an Air Travel Pass are also permitted for general travel.

Individuals from ages three to 70 are eligible for the cover.

ChangiAssure can be bought before or upon arrival in Singapore. It comes in two tiers – the basic plan, which provides up to SG$8,000 in hospitalisation or quarantine expenses in case the traveller is infected with COVID-19 during their stay in Singapore, and the superior plan, which ups the previous benefit to SG$100,000 and adds SG$100,000 in accident cover and SG$200,000 for death and disability cover.

Aside from Singapore, Turkey, Thailand and Aruba offer insurance to boost visitors’ confidence when travelling to the respective countries.
