DirectAsia Insurance Singapore has modified its travel insurance policy, expanding coverage with families with young children in mind.

The insurer said that parents travelling with children are at a huge risk of being underinsured. This is due to coverage limits typically imposed on children that are at around half adult levels, which most parents and travellers are unaware of. This is despite travel claim amounts for children being around the same cost as those of adults.

DirectAsia’s travel insurance product now provides the same coverage limits for children as adults under its family plan. Up to four children can be insured at no additional cost. Families requiring an extra helping hand when travelling can add cover for domestic helpers under the same plan.

The product also has terrorism cover, which will reimburse policyholders if they decide to change or cancel their trip following a terrorist incident within 50km of their booked accommodation.

Optional add-ons for extreme sports such as triathlons, hiking, or skiing are available, as well as coverage for valuable sports equipment.

The revised policy is part of DirectAsia’s latest ‘No More Bad Souvenirs’ campaign, which strives to remind travellers of the importance of protecting themselves, and taking control of their holiday happiness through insurance.
