Coface appoints Carlos Casanova as APAC regional economis

Trade credit insurer Coface has named Carlos Casanova as its economist for the Asia-Pacific region. His appointment became effective on May 15, and he is based in Hong Kong.

Casanova has extensive experience in quantitative and qualitative economic methodologies, building forecasts, and conducting macroeconomic analyses. He will be in charge of managing Coface’s coverage of the various interconnected economic and geopolitical changes in the region.

Before joining Coface, Casanova was an economist for Spanish banking group Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) in Hong Kong, as well as for the European Commission in Beijing.

His work has been featured in several reputable academic journals, published by Elsevier, Emerald and Routledge. He is also regularly sought for interview by international media outlets such as Bloomberg TV, Deutsche Welle, Nikkei Asian Review, and the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

A fluent speaker of Mandarin, English, and Spanish, Casanova obtained his MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and a BA Joint Honours from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies.
