Miller is expanding its fine art and specie division as it brings new blood to the consolidated team.

The latest addition is Lance Thorpe, who steps into the role of specie account executive. With a background spanning over 15 years, Thorpe’s career has encompassed significant positions, including an underwriting role at Everest, alongside previous underwriting and broking responsibilities at Parker Norfolk & Partners and Willis Towers Watson (now WTW).

His arrival follows the 2023 launch of the fine art and specie team, now comprising several key figures:

  • Annabel Fell-Clark, leading the division as head of fine art and specie, comes with a background of over 30 years in the industry, including underwriting roles at Hiscox and Ascot, and leadership as the CEO of AXA’s UK Art division
  • Giovanni Sard, serving as account executive, brought his skills from Lonmart Insurance, with foundations laid at Sotheby’s
  • Hilary Copp, also an account executive, contributes over a decade of experience focused on the US market, with a history in both underwriting and broking in London and New York

“I’m excited to see our continued growth as we build a team of individuals with deep experience of the market and the products we handle,” Fell-Clark said. “Lance’s appointment further bolsters our special risks division, and his expertise will ensure we keep delivering innovative solutions for our clients, using our profound knowledge of the Fine Art and Specie space, and wider insurance industry.”

In separate news for the re/insurance broker, Miller has also announced its foray into the parametric insurance arena with the creation of a new global division.
