Rentguard introduces tenant liability insurance

This expanding company has launched a new policy that covers accidental damage by the tenant to the property and the landlord's fixtures and fittings

Rentguard Insurance has expanded its portfolio of specialist landlord insurance products with a new policy that covers tenants’ liability of up to £2m.
 
The product is underwritten by leading UK insurer Ageas and covers accidental damage by the tenant to the property and the landlord's fixtures and fittings.
 
The product also covers the cost of repair following accidental damage and loss, or damage to fixed water pipes and tanks.
 
Included in the coverage are household goods, valuables and belongings including money up to £750 and credit cards up to £1,000 within the rented property.
 
Alternative accommodation can also be provided if the property is uninhabitable as a result of loss or damage.
 
Other significant features include replacement of locks if the tenant’s keys are stolen or lost, cover for loss of oil and metered water and alternative accommodation, which is available if the home is uninhabitable as a result of loss or damage.
