Arthur J Gallagher & Co is the new provider tasked with insuring Glasgow University’s The Hunterian.

Scotland’s oldest public museum, The Hunterian houses artefacts – including a fossilised shark and an Egyptian mummy – as well as artworks by artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

A report by The Scotsman said the terrorism insurance contract, worth £200,000, also covers business interruption and the university’s buildings and contents. The institution changed its insurer last year and had to look for a terrorism cover provider, according to the report.

The Hunterian, one of the leading university museums in the world, is also among the Recognised Collections of National Significance.

The daily cited galleries like the Louvre and the Bardo National Museum as sites of recent terror attacks.
