Gallagher has strengthened its financial lines in Asia with the appointment of Ralph Sherbahn (pictured) as head of financial lines in the region.

In his new role, Sherbahn will be responsible for overseeing the insurer’s financial lines operations in Asia, with existing capabilities in Singapore and Hong Kong. He and his team will advise on products including cyber, management liability, financial institutions, warranty and indemnity, and other types of IPO/M&A related insurance.

Sherbahn brings with him 30 years of insurance experience in both broking and underwriting. He last worked at Zurich, overseeing financial lines underwriting for the group. He also held senior roles at The Hartford, XL Group, and Marsh. An international talent, Sherbahn has experience in markets across the world including Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Switzerland, France, Spain, and the US.

According to his LinkedIn, Sherbahn received his BA in management from the Alaska Pacific University, and his MBA in finance from Mercer University.

With the firm’s expansion in the APAC region, Sherbahn will also manage new financial lines as they go live in new territories. He will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to North Asia CEO Thomas Wang.

“Ralph is a natural leader who brings passion, expertise and a commercially driven mind and a huge amount of financial lines experience,” Wang said. “This appointment speaks directly to our strategy of employing talented people to support our existing clients, and expand our services to new clients and deliver on our ambitious growth plans. We are very pleased to have him on board.”
