MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd has pledged RM100,800 to the MyKasih Foundation’s Love My School Cashless Bursary Program, extending financial support to 89 underprivileged students from SK Bukit Tadom in Banting for the 2026 academic year, the insurer announced Wednesday.
The contribution will fund monthly cashless allowances credited to accounts linked to each student’s MyKad and MyKasih student smart card. Students may use the cards to purchase daily meals and beverages from their school canteen, as well as books, stationery, and other learning materials from the school bookstore. Back-to-school items, including uniforms, shoes, and school bags, are also covered under the program.
Eligibility is limited to primary and secondary students from low-income households earning less than RM1,500 per month. Schools identify and recommend qualifying students for sponsorship, and continued support is subject to annual review based on academic performance.
MSIG Malaysia chief executive officer Ang Yien Chia said the initiative reflects the company’s broader development goals.
“Education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty,” Ang said. “Through this structured cashless bursary program, we aim to ease the everyday financial pressures faced by families while empowering students to attend school with dignity and confidence.”
Ang added that the company has planned further community activities this year in collaboration with MyKasih for SK Bukit Tadom and several other schools.
“Our intention is to build sustained engagement with the school and its community beyond financial assistance alone,” she said.
The Love My School program was first launched in 2012. According to MyKasih Foundation, the scheme uses chip technology embedded in the Malaysian national identity card to distribute welfare aid directly to beneficiaries through a secure, transparent cashless system.
Beyond bursaries, MyKasih also supports adopted schools through classroom enhancements, computer labs, robotics equipment, aquaponics projects, and programs covering sports, music, English proficiency, and financial literacy.
