Newline Group has beefed up its operations in Asia with two new appointments to its leadership team based in Singapore.

The market-leading specialty insurance group has named Singapore executive Rachel Flynn as principal officer for Newline Asia, where she will be responsible for the company’s operations in the city-state while overseeing local regulatory issues.

The company has also appointed Susan Chew as Newline Asia’s chief underwriting officer. In her new role, she will be focusing on general liability, medical malpractice and financial lines while also directing the overall underwriting strategy for the insurance group within Asia.

“The breadth and depth of Newline’s talent is clearly evident with these internal appointments,” said Newline Group CEO Carl Overy.

Chew has served as claims manager and underwriting counsel at Newline Asia and has been with the company since its Singapore office was established in 2007.

Flynn joined Newline Group in October 2014 and served claims manager and underwriting counsel prior to her recent promotion.

An 18-year industry veteran, Flynn held executive roles in several insurance and law firms including AIG Asia Pacific, Allianz and Drew & Napier LLC.
