ZogZag77, a concierge application for drivers in Thailand, was launched on Wednesday through the combined efforts of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thaivivat Insurance, Nation Multimedia Group, and PTT.

The app will help drivers find petrol stations, restaurants, souvenir shops, tourism-related activities, and other events within a 20 kilometre radius from the user’s location. It also allows users to purchase motor and travel insurance on the spot.

Developers are also planning to add a crowdsourcing function, allowing users to notify their peers about events and other travel information through the app. To ensure accuracy, a team will verify the content before it gets published.

The creators of ZogZag77 are targeting 500,000 downloads for this year, a small proportion of the 15 million vehicles across Thailand.

“It’s not just an app to help people driving through the provinces but is meant to help stimulate the local economy by making local business information easily accessible to people passing through certain parts of provinces, and in the process boost local businesses,” said an adviser to the chairman of Nation Multimedia Group.

Meanwhile, Thepphan Asvatanakul, executive vice president of Thaivivat Insurance, added: “We make it easy for people to get insurance, whether car insurance or travel insurance. We offer both annual insurance and top-up insurance. ”
