XL Catlin has added two new members to its marine insurance team – Stephen Clark, named vice-president, national Hull & Liabilities practice leader in Chicago, and Alison J. Rizzi, appointed as senior Ocean Marine underwriter in New York.

“Larger vessels. More cargo. Crowded ports and new technologies.  These are just some of the business risks that our marine clients contend with every day,” commented XL Catlin Marine Business North America senior vice-president and Ocean Marine practice leader Virginia Cameron.

“To provide them with the right marine insurance protection, we are delighted to bring on-board such dedicated, knowledgeable underwriting talent like Steve and Alison. Using their combined 40 years of marine underwriting experience, we’re looking forward to helping our clients address their hull and liability exposures with tailored coverages.”

Clark, in his new role, will address marine business’s hull and liability insurance needs, a release said. He was most recently vice-president of Ocean Marine business at CNA. He brings over 25 years of ocean marine underwriting experience.

Rizzi returns to XL Catlin after a stint with Allianz, where she managed a book of complex marine risks. She possesses more than a dozen years of marine insurance experience in multiple lines of marine coverages, including hull, P&I, and marine liabilities. Rizzi first joined XL Catlin in 2005 as an underwriter in the company’s marine and offshore energy business.
