Dive In kicks off 10th iteration

Diversity & Inclusion

By Terry Gangcuangco

This year marks a significant milestone for Dive In Festival, the premier event dedicated to diversity and inclusion within the insurance sector, as it celebrates its 10th edition. Since its launch in 2015, the festival has seen substantial growth and will be held in an unprecedented 50 countries.

The festival, scheduled from September 24 to 26, will feature a range of activities aimed at inspiring the industry, with high-profile speakers to be announced soon. Registration opens on August 15.

The 2024 theme, “A Sustainable Future: The Next 10 Years,” will emphasize the importance of inclusive cultures for long-term success. This year, Dive In will expand its global reach by hosting events in Greece, Belgium, Malaysia, Namibia, and the Philippines for the first time. The festival will maintain its hybrid format, offering both virtual and in-person sessions.

To kick off the festival, Dive In launched the #NominateMyManager campaign, celebrating managers who have significantly contributed to fostering inclusive cultures within their teams and organisations. Industry professionals are invited to submit nominations by June 28.

Jason Groves, chair of the Dive In Festival and international director of external affairs and media relations at Marsh McLennan, stated: “As Dive In celebrates its 10-year anniversary, it’s not only a moment to reflect on the industry’s strides in diversity and inclusion but an opportunity to look ahead at the next decade and how we progress.

“This year’s theme is a clarion call to ask individuals at all levels of seniority to commit to creating inclusive workplace cultures. Unlocking every individual’s potential to innovate will enable us to tackle the global challenges the industry is facing and create more resilient businesses.”

For the second year running, Dive In will present “Dive In to Reverse Mentoring,” the first cross-industry mentoring programme that encourages individuals at all levels to share knowledge and challenge perceptions. The initiative promotes junior employees mentoring senior members to bridge generational and cultural gaps.

Yelhis Hernández, Mexico country manager and Central America market development manager at Lloyd’s, commented: “Through our Dive In to Reverse Mentoring initiative, we've cultivated a culture of collaboration and mutual learning among senior leadership and junior team members across the globe.

“Engaging 185 individuals from the business sector across 18 countries, this initiative has garnered a satisfaction rate of over 90% among participants and a high likelihood of recommendation to colleagues. We’re delighted to reintroduce the scheme, with the goal of expanding its international reach.”

Confirmed festival partners this year include AIG, Aon, Arch, Aviva, AXA, Axis, BMS Group, Chubb, Clyde & Co, CNA, Everest Re, Fidelis Insurance Group, Gallagher, Guidewire, Howden Insurance, Kennedys, KPMG, Liberty Global, Lloyd’s, Lockton Re, Markel, Marsh McLennan, MS Amlin, Munich Re, RenaissanceRe, RGA, SCOR, Sompo, Swiss Re Group, Tokio Marine Kiln, and WTW.
