University students across Singapore will soon compete in rowing, lunges, and high-intensity workouts – not just for prizes, but as part of AIA Singapore’s first Ultimate FitnessFest, designed to link physical activity with financial protection awareness.

The AIA Ultimate FitnessFest (AUFF), supported by HYROX, will take place from August through Sep. 27.

Divided into the University Edition and the Open Edition, the event caters to different age groups and fitness levels. It is part of AIA’s ongoing “Rethink Healthy” campaign, which calls for new definitions of health in Asia and aims to increase participation in wellness initiatives.

The AUFF University Edition invites students from six local universities – NUS, NTU, SMU, SUSS, SIT, and SUTD – to form teams of four and compete in on-campus qualifiers.

Events include rowing and synchronized weighted lunges. The top three teams from each university will advance to the finals, where they will participate in a HYROX-style circuit featuring a 1,000-meter run, burpee broad jumps, walking lunges, a 1,000-meter row, hand-release push-ups, and 100 wall balls.

Leading up to the finals, students can also earn bonus points through additional activities. These include the Rainforest Amazing Race at Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s Rainforest Wild Asia, community runs with AIA, charity-related social media efforts, and fitness progress rankings at training sessions hosted by Fitness First.

The top two university teams will receive complimentary entries to the AIA HYROX Singapore race in November 2025.

The event also introduces the AIA #GenFit PA plan, a personal accident insurance product created for Gen Zers. According to the seventh wave of the AIA Live Better Study, only 44% of Gen Zers in Singapore currently have personal accident coverage. The new plan offers coverage for medical bills and is tailored for those with active lifestyles. It includes a special AIA Vitality offer for purchases made in 2025.

AIA Singapore CEO Wong Sze Keed said the event is intended to address both physical and financial well-being among younger individuals through participation and access to protection tools.

For members of the public, the AUFF Open Edition offers a lighter version of the HYROX experience, open to all ages and fitness levels.
