Lockton Re has announced the appointment of Zeeshan Ahmad as treaty & structured solutions leader at Lockton MENA Reinsurance Brokers, adding a seasoned reinsurance executive to its growing regional leadership team.

Ahmad’s arrival comes as Lockton continues to expand across the MENA reinsurance market, where demand for reinsurance capacity has been increasing alongside the entry of new capital, reinsurers, and managing general agents across key regional markets.

The company highlighted in a LinkedIn post that Ahmad brings more than 15 years of reinsurance experience to the role, with expertise in treaty underwriting, structured solutions, and portfolio optimization across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

He joins from Afro Asian Insurance Services Ltd., where he spent seven years and most recently served as director of treaty and structured solutions. Before that, he held several senior positions at GIC Re, including property treaty underwriter and chief underwriting officer of GIC Re South Africa Ltd.

Gerard Monayer, CEO of Lockton Re MENA, said the appointment reflects the firm’s efforts to strengthen its treaty capabilities in Saudi Arabia.

“It’s great to see the treaty team starting to take shape under the leadership of Mohammed Alrowais in the Kingdom,” Monayer said.

Lockton expansion

The appointment also follows a series of strategic moves by the broker aimed at strengthening its regional footprint. In March, Lockton appointed Adam Berry as CEO of Lockton Re MENA, recruiting him from Howden Re to lead regional growth initiatives. That followed the appointment of Christopher Bonnet as MENA CEO in October, as the company identified the Middle East as a strategic growth market and accelerated investment across specialty, energy, and financial lines.

In May, Lockton secured a reinsurance license in Saudi Arabia, a key regulatory milestone that enabled the firm to establish in-country reinsurance operations and support the treaty team being developed under Alrowais’ leadership.

Within the broader Lockton MENA platform, Lockton employs more than 200 associates across offices in Dubai International Financial Centre, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Alexandria, Amman, Muscat, and Casablanca. The firm was also the first international broker in the MENA region to obtain Lloyd’s broker status.

Commenting on Ahmad’s appointment, Monayer said the firm’s continued investment in talent reflects its long-term commitment to clients across the region.

“The momentum is exciting, and we are extremely pleased to see exceptional talent joining Lockton, a business defined by its culture and unwavering client-focused approach,” he said.
