In his new role, Kim will lead FWD’s digital transformation both externally for customers and internally for its employees. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Rob Schimek, managing director & group chief operating officer.

Kim brings with him nearly 20 years of experience working in digital strategy roles in the financial services industry. He joins from a leading multinational bank where he had spent the last nine years managing various digital initiatives in Asia. Prior to joining FWD, Ryan was managing director and regional head of digital for the Greater China and North Asia regions, where he was responsible for the digital strategy and business transformation for the bank and spearheading innovation.

Earlier in his career, Kim spent nearly eight years in management consulting specialising in technology, during which time he consulted on several executive-level programmes in more than eight countries for industry-leading clients in the insurance, technology, and telecoms sectors.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome Ryan to the team,” said Schimek. “His wealth of experience in digital roles within the financial services industry across Asia will seamlessly complement FWD’s vision of changing the way people feel about insurance. Ryan’s leadership will be core in shaping our internal and external efforts to enhance our customer-led and digital-enabled experiences and offerings.”
