Prudential has announced the launch of a new policy in Hong Kong with an industry first feature.

The firm has launched PRUhealth Critical Illness Protector which includes a protection reset benefit which will reset the protection amount for major disease conditions or death to 100% after the claims for eligible early stage major disease.

The industry first reset aims to provide customers with an added level of financial support as the new product also allows policyholders to make up to three claims for 18 types of early stage major disease conditions, with the payout for each claim up to 25% of the sum assured.

Sady Wong, senior director of product management, Prudential Hong Kong, said that the policy offers comprehensive cover for various early to late stage diseases which will help customers maximise their protection.

“We understand that during times of need such as when a critical illness strikes, our customers need to focus on recovery, and not the financial burden and stress that the disease may bring,” Wong said.

The new plan also includes an additional 20% protection for late stage major disease conditions on top of the sum assured, including cancer, heart attack and stroke.

The cover offers protection against 75 early to late stage disease conditions and offers up to 70% extra protection for the first decade of the policy.
