As more people than ever work from home due to COVID-19, Chubb and financial services platform GoBear have launched a product that caters to the needs of telecommuting employees in Singapore.

The product, known as Work From Home Care, is underwritten by Chubb and available for purchase on the GoBear website, according to a statement by the companies. It is available for individuals, couples, and families on a monthly subscription basis, and includes personal accident insurance, a COVID-19 hospitalisation benefit, and access to medical teleconsultation services through the Doctor Anywhere app.

Work From Home Care also has a cyber insurance component, which covers legal expenses and loss of income caused by cybercrimes such as identity theft.

A recent survey by EngageRocket, the Singapore Human Resources Institute and the Institute for Human Resource Professionals showed that around nine in 10 employees want to continue working from home in some capacity as movement restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are being loosened. However, working from home also entails heightened cyber risks due to more lax cybersecurity in private residences.

“Many may not realise that telecommuting exposes them to increased cyber security risks such as potential hacker attacks and phishing scams,” said Winston Ng, country director of GoBear Singapore. “This is one of the ways Work From Home Care anticipates their needs.”
