Aggregator insurance sales soar

A comparison website saw a jump in policy sales of 134% in the last month as consumers attempted to avoid tax penalties before the June 30 deadline.

Australian comparison website comparethemarket.com.au has reported a monthly sales increase in health insurance policies of 134% from May to June as consumers rushed to avoid tax penalties before the June 30 deadline.

Up to 46% of health insurance policy sales on comparethemarket.com.au for last month occurred in the last week, with 17% taking place over the final June weekend and 10% visiting the website on Sunday June 30.

 “Our focus remained on encouraging consumers looking to avoid tax penalties, to compare health insurance policies on comparethemarket.com.au before the June 30 deadline,” said George Meligonis, managing director of comparethemarket.com.au.

“With the whole industry pushing out this message to educate consumers, we’re thrilled with the great influx of people who visited our website to find the right health insurance policy to meet their needs.”

Comparethemarket.com.au launched in February this year.
