AIG has named John Cusano chief business & technology operations officer of general insurance.

In his new role, Cusano will be in charge of enhancing the general insurance unit’s business and technology operations infrastructure. He will also align end-to-end processes with target operating models and will report to AIG general insurance president and CEO Peter Zaffino while serving on the general insurance executive leadership team, as well as the AIG Global Technology Council.

His global portfolio includes general insurance’s shared services, information technology, project management office, and vendor management operations.

Cusano joins AIG from Accenture, where he held a number of leadership positions – most recently as head of the company’s global insurance business. His other previous roles include leadership of Accenture’s North American insurance business and insurance software solutions business. Cusano joined Accenture in 1988.

“John’s appointment builds on our focused efforts to enhance operational capabilities for our clients and partners by leveraging technology to accelerate the delivery of innovative solutions around the world,” said Zaffino, adding that Cusano’s “global experience and significant insurance expertise” will expedite AIG’s progress in its business strategy.

“I am pleased to join AIG as we foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and efficiency,” remarked Cusano.

Cusano’s appointment takes effect July 01, 2019.
