American International Group will hire the CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies’ brokerage business to act as a deputy to AIG’s top executive, sources say.

Reuters reported that AIG is expected to hire Marsh CEO Peter Zaffino, who will leave the company to become AIG CEO Brian Duperreault’s “effective deputy.”

Marsh President John Doyle will take on the dual role of president and CEO when Zaffino leaves, Reuters reported. No other details of Zaffino’s role at AIG are known.

Duperreault, a protégé of former AIG CEO Hank Greenberg, took the reins of the company in May, according to Reuters. Duperreault is known in the industry for his expertise in turning around struggling companies.

Neither AIG nor Marsh & McLennan would comment on the report, according to the AP.
