Ansvar has hosted a forum on the topic, “Managing Risk and Maximising Opportunities – Challenging the way we have thought about risk management in the aged care sector.”

The session, held in Mount Gambier, Adelaide, challenged aged-care providers to refocus their risk management, as traditional approaches are no longer appropriate in these times of greater complexity and uncertainty, the specialist insurer said.

Ansvar urged aged-care providers to be part of new thinking and approaches with risk, explore its governance and leadership roles in the context of aged care, and share insights and experiences for improving risk-management practices.

Speaking at the event were Anthony Black, Ansvar risk solutions consultant and former nurse and health service executive, who has management experience in the aged-care sector, and Nick Henley, Ansvar SA/NT state manager, who has more than 25 years of insurance experience, including at Allianz, Lumley, and QBE.

Following the success of the event, Ansvar said it is planning to hold similar forums in regional areas throughout the year.
