The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has announced it has appointed Tim Tez, CEO of Australasia Resolution Life, and Sarah Phillips, general manager of Corporate Affairs and CEO Office of AIA, to become the newest members of the agency’s board of directors.

“We are delighted to welcome Sarah and Tim to the board,” said Prue Willsford, CEO of ANZIIF. "Their experience, industry knowledge, and passion for enhancing professional standards will greatly benefit ANZIIF and ensure we remain relevant to all the members that we serve."

Who are the new Board members?

Tez has served as the CEO of Resolution Life Australasia since February. He has spent his career in the insurance industry and has extensive experience in the fields of M&A, distribution, strategy, reinsurance, product, pricing, marketing, and government relations.

Phillips, in her role at AIA Australia, is involved in public policy advocacy, strategic communications, and ESG as well as leading the CEO office of the agency. In her career, she worked in a number of public policy roles, including as a consultant to the FSC and as reputation manager at the Business Council of Australia.

"I’m delighted to join the ANZIIF board and have the opportunity to contribute to the important role ANZIIF plays in shaping and transforming the insurance and finance industry,” said Tez. “ANZIIF’s mission to promote industry professional standards through education and learning, and improve community understanding of insurance and finance, is something that I am also very passionate about.”

"In the time that I’ve worked in insurance in Australia, I have gained a real respect for the role that ANZIIF plays in supporting the industry and lifting standards. I was very pleased to work closely with ANZIIF as we developed the Life Insurance Professional Standards,” said Phillips. “I look forward to now being able to support and advocate for ANZIIF from my position on the board."
