ANZIIF opens applications for latest Donna Walker Awards

The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has opened submissions for the Allianz Donna Walker Awards 2023.

Donna Walker was a loved and respected member of the insurance industry and a friend of ANZIIF for many years. She championed and supported diversity within the industry, supported flexible working programs, and regularly delivered speeches at industry events.

Sponsored by Allianz, the award will recognise one professional in each of the two categories: Inspiring Leadership and Emerging Talent. It aims to celebrate individuals who have contributed significantly to developing insurance professionalism and promoting diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry.

Donna Walker Awards 2023 criteria

Entries are open to everyone working in the insurance industry, regardless of sector or personal identification. Interested individuals may nominate a colleague, or peer, or self-nominate.

Allianz Donna Walker Award for Inspiring Leadership

Interested applicants for the Inspiring Leadership category must provide the following:

• A brief career synopsis, including the age at which you first joined the industry, what attracted you to it, and the roles you have held;
• What are you currently doing to promote diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry? Include the results of your efforts; and
• An example of where you have been a mentor in the industry and your mentorship’s positive impact on the individual or group.

Allianz Donna Walker Award for Emerging Talent

Interested applicants for the Emerging Talent category must have been in the industry for less than five years in a non-executive role. They must provide the following:

• A brief career synopsis, including the age at which you first joined the industry, what attracted you to it, and the roles you have held;
• An example of where you have promoted the insurance industry outside of your business-as-usual work; and
• What are you doing to invest in your professional developments? Include the outcomes of your commitment.

ANZIIF will announce the winners at the Diversity and Inclusion Seminar in late June. The event will be held after ANZIIF celebrates the 50th anniversary of its South Australian Charity Luncheon in May.
