Ben Rolfe (pictured), a member of the Aon family since 1999, has taken on a new role following a thorough search for the post.

Chief broking officer for Australia from 2013, Rolfe maintains that capacity while at the same time moving up from his former title as broking chief operating officer to managing director. The company stalwart will focus on heading and enhancing Aon’s approach to broking strategy across commercial risk, health solutions, and the Affinity business.

“I am delighted to lead this high-performing team and continue to demonstrate a world-class approach to client-led broking support,” commented the managing director for broking, who joined Aon Australia in 2007 as the Northern region manager for programme design and placement.

Rolfe was previously part of Aon’s global broking centre in London where he managed the Australasian property book. The industry veteran said he is excited to drive the firm’s broking strategy and assist clients through these uncertain times.

Meanwhile Aon Australia chief executive James Baum had nothing but nice words for the chief broking officer.

“Following an extensive internal and external search for the role,” noted Baum, “we are delighted to appoint Ben to this crucial role at Aon, holding strategic oversight of Aon’s broking function.

“Ben’s leadership and technical capabilities combined with his relationship management skills means he is ideally positioned to build on the great work established across the broking division.”
