Berkley Insurance Australia (Berkley) has bolstered its partner solutions team – formerly known as facilities – by welcoming Marz Psut as its latest senior partner solutions underwriter.

Psut brings with her extensive experience, having honed her expertise in general liability across a spectrum of sectors including SMEs, construction, and both corporate and major/global accounts. Her professional journey has traversed the insurance landscapes of cities such as London, Melbourne, and presently, Sydney.

“An insurance career never seems to be a deliberate choice for anyone. I landed in an underwriting role after arriving in Melbourne and was given the opportunity to learn the new profession,” she said.

Marz Psut’s international experience

Psut’s international tenure has significantly shaped her approach.

“I don’t believe there is truly that much difference between countries or cities and their insurance markets. It’s about how much we invest to deliver the desired outcome and enjoy the process at the same time,” she said.

Marz Psut on the importance of communication

Central to Psut’s strategy is forging strong bonds with brokers and coverholders, which she identifies as the most rewarding aspect of her role. She employs Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques to enhance communication to understand and meet client needs.

Psut is also a proponent of proactive industry engagement and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge to navigate the swiftly changing currents of the insurance world. She encourages a culture of conversation, reading, and inquiry among her peers to better anticipate and adapt to the evolving needs of the insurance sectors she serves.

“This must be my favourite part of being an underwriter – building connections, servicing, and finding solutions,” she said. “Talk to colleagues, market leaders, reinsurers, read, keep asking questions.”
