Shaneika Sutherland, broker operations and distribution manager at BIzCover for Brokers (B4B), has been named one of Insurance Business Australia's Rising Stars for 2023.
IB's Rising Stars report showcases professionals who, without overt focus on praise or criticism, have demonstrated commitment and accomplishment, not just for personal growth but also for the benefit of their clients and colleagues.
In July, IB extended an invitation to professionals across the Australian insurance sector, urging them to nominate exceptional young talents for the prestigious ninth annual Rising Stars list. Eligible candidates, aged 35 or under as of Oct. 31, were required to hold roles directly related to, interacting with, or impacting the general insurance industry, showcasing a clear dedication to a career in insurance.
Nominees, assessed by the IB team, provided insights into their current roles, key achievements, career aspirations, and contributions shaping the industry. The selection process also considered recommendations from managers and senior industry professionals. Following a comprehensive review, the list was refined to feature 45 of the sector's most noteworthy young professionals.
In the arena of SME insurance brokerage, Sutherland plays a pivotal role as the leader of the B4B sales channel, overseeing its comprehensive operations.
From B4B's humble beginnings, Sutherland has steered the B4B team, which has now expanded to include 10 professionals dedicated to servicing SME insurance brokers across Australia.
Sutherland's leadership has been instrumental in the growth and efficiency of the B4B platform, which boasts a subscriber base of over 3,000 brokers. Through the systematic implementation of long-term strategies, she has not only expanded B4B's portfolio but has also aided in the introduction of the innovative ExpressCover platform, reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability.
Under Sutherland's guidance, the wholesale channels have experienced remarkable growth, with a notable 147% increase for the 2024 financial year compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. This growth underscores Sutherland's strategic vision and effective management, positioning her as a driving force in the success of B4B within the SME insurance brokerage landscape.
