Challenger brand wins prestigious industry award

An insurance challenger brand has taken out the prestigious Insurer of the Year award beating 34 other insurers to the prize.

Challenger brand Budget Direct has been named Insurer of the Year by Money Magazine, beating 34 other insurers to the top spot.

Based on analysis by Canstar, Budget Direct was given the nod and managed to stave off the challenge of a host of other insurers across Australia, the company said in a statement.

Budget Direct, who also took out the award in 2010, were said to have “great pricing on car and home and contents policies as well as products with great features,” Money Magazine wrote.

Ram Kangatharan, CEO and MD of Budget Direct, said that the award was vindication for both the company and its customers and shows that the insurer is not solely focused on price.

“We know Budget Direct customers are smart – and this award proves it,” Kangatharan said.

“Budget Direct is more than cheap prices, we provide features that customers truly value.”
