Chubb has announced a new head of accident and health for its business in Australia and New Zealand.

Ben Howell will step into the role and will continue to undertake his responsibilities as Chubb global broker unit manager for Victoria for an interim period, the insurer said.

Howell will report directly to John French, Chubb country president Australia and New Zealand, having re-joined Chubb last year following a stint with the firm from 2002 to 2005.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the industry, Howell has worked throughout the region with positions at AIG and Allied World.

French said that Howell’s experience will be key to the further development of Chubb’s A&H business.

“He brings a strong underwriting background to the role,” French said. “Ben has proven abilities in managing P&Ls, portfolio management, process improvement, product development and marketing.”
