Cover-More Group chief operating officer Cara Morton has been tapped to serve as interim chief executive at the Sydney-headquartered travel insurance and assistance provider, as current group CEO Hanno Mijer takes on a new executive leadership position at Cover-More’s parent firm Zurich Group.

According to a release, Mijer will become Zurich’s commercial insurance services head, reporting to commercial insurance chief executive James Shea with immediate effect.

Meanwhile Morton, who was COO from October 2018, will lead Cover-More to help navigate the business through the ongoing impact of the coronavirus crisis and prepare strategically for the resumption of global travel and the post-pandemic economy.

Having held consulting and senior management roles at Fortune 500 and ASX 100 corporations across banking, insurance, government, consumer goods, and mining over a span of more than two and a half decades, the interim CEO brings an extensive track record in strategic business transformation to the post.

Cover-More, which operates in 22 countries across five continents, became part of the Zurich family in 2017.
