Budget Direct has retained the award for the cheapest car insurance in Australia at the 2015 Money magazine Best of the Best awards.

The insurer won Gold in the category of cheapest car insurance and has been represented on the nominees list since 2007.

AAMI took out the award for cheapest home and contents cover at the annual awards.

Auto & General, who underwrite Budget Direct policies, are delighted with the award which comes on the back of their 2014 win.

Ram Kangatharan, MD/CEO Auto & General said of the win: “Budget Direct is determined to give Australians real choice and value in insurance – and we are delighted to be recognised again and again for doing exactly that.”

“Customers are saving hundreds of dollars by making the switch to Budget Direct, with new online customers reporting saving on average $254 on their car insurance.

Kangatharan was quick to point out that consumers do not exchange service for price when using Budget Direct but modelling and IT systems have helped to lower prices.

“We are able to keep our prices low due to our risk assessment expertise and innovative systems. Customers don’t trade service for price with Budget Direct; they get the full package for less.”
