Gallagher report reveals insights on association member engagement

A new report by association insurance specialist broker Gallagher has found that Australians value their association memberships and the benefits they bring, including the ability to access preferentially priced business insurance.

Gallagher's The Benefits of Belonging report, which surveyed nearly 750 members from 41 associations, explored overall levels of engagement and satisfaction, the most pressing concerns members face in running their business, as well as the services they would like their associations to offer.

“Pleasingly, the overwhelming feedback from participants is that they place a high value on association membership and are very appreciative of the efforts associations go to on their behalf,” said Christine Osborne, manager of Gallagher professional associations.

The study found that members under the age of 30 are far less likely to believe membership provides value for money compared to those 30 and older. Another key finding is the high value members place on being able to source preferentially priced business insurance through their association.

“There’s a lot of positive reading for association managers in this report, but there were also some unexpected findings on the type of benefits members most value, and some ideas for ‘quick wins’ associations could action to enhance their value proposition, both to existing members and to prospects,” Osborne said.

The report can be accessed on Gallagher's website.
