Insurance Business Australia has released the latest Elite Brokers special report, which recognises the best-performing insurance brokers in Australia – not only those with the biggest portfolios or the largest number of clients.
Among this year's elite brokers is Grace Insurance director Frans du Plessis, a highly knowledgeable and experienced insurance broker who helps clients find the best insurance solutions to meet their needs.
In 2015, Du Plessis established Grace Insurance from a small office and has built the business into three offices: Western Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria. He plans to continue expanding the business into all states in Australia in the coming years.
Du Plessis entered the insurance industry at an early age. By 24, he was already leading a team of 27 members. Since establishing Grace Insurance in 2015, he has acquired and retained clients by treating them like friends and family and always going the extra mile.
When asked about his secret to becoming successful, Du Plessis said: “Client service is key to any brokerage. This, in turn, leads to greater client satisfaction and retention. If clients are satisfied with your service, they will refer you to others. Every broker I speak to is extremely busy and exceeding their targets. I believe the brokers who want to grow their portfolios will do so with ease.”
Facing challenges is part of career growth – and Du Plessis said one of his biggest challenges has been going from a broker-only operation to a staffed broking operation.
“This started our journey of acquisitions,” he said. “In order to sustain staff, you need the clients and income to be able to pay for staff. This led me to do my first large acquisition and enabled me to employ not one but two support staff. Today, our staff remains key to our success.”
