The couple who were alleged to have defrauded underwriting agency DUAL out of more than $17 million have each been found guilty of a number of charges.

Former national claims manager Josie Gonzalez and her husband Alvaro were both found guilty of 14 charges of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

The jury returned its unanimous verdict on Thursday, after deliberations began at the County Court of Victoria in Melbourne on Wednesday morning.

The plea hearing has been set for August 28.
