HBA Legal, the law firm of claims management giant Crawford & Company, has bolstered its workers’ compensation, insurance litigation, and public liability practices in Queensland with the appointment of Robert Parcell (pictured) as special counsel.

Parcell has over three decades of legal experience and had spent the past three and a half years with global legal business DWF.

Brett Ablong, legal managing director of HBA Legal, said Parcell was well known and respected within the insurance sector in Queensland.

“Robert is an accredited personal injury specialist, a notation he obtained back in 1998 – this is considered formal recognition of a practitioner’s high level of competency and knowledge and a mark of a true leader in their area of expertise,” said Ablong.

For his part, Parcell said he was looking forward to being part of the only provider in Australia to offer a single supplier integrated claims solution including legal.

“Workers’ compensation is where my primary focus has been for the past 20 years,” he said. “In this space, the end-to-end claims solution with TPA [third party administrator] claims managers and lawyers working side by side collaboratively has enormous benefits to clients in terms of helping to drive down both claim costs and duration.

“For me, when you make a career move it has to be somewhere where there’s high quality work and great opportunity to take client service to the next level. I’m looking forward to the next chapter with Crawford and HBA.”
