Industrial lines insurer HDI Global SE has announced the appointment of Stephen Jones (pictured above) as state manager for the southern region, effective April 24.

The role, which is based in Melbourne, will see Jones at the head of the local Victoria branch office, responsible for leading the team in the next phase of growth in the southern region.

Stefan Feldmann, head of HDI Global Asia-Pacific and managing director for HDI Global SE, Australia, commented on Jones’ appointment and praised his expertise in executive management, broking, and underwriting, as well as his track record of transformative growth.

“His leadership and extensive experience will strengthen local support to our broker partners and their clients for the southern region,” Feldman said.

Jones joins HDI after spending seven years at Marsh Pacific, where he most recently served as managing director for Affinity in the Pacific region. He also has 17 years of prior underwriting experience and has held regional, national, and state executive positions where he oversaw high-performing business teams.

In total, Jones has over 30 years of executive, broking, and underwriting insurance experience. He is an ANZIIF Fellow and is currently a qualified practicing insurance broker with NIBA. He holds a Master of Business Administration.

Speaking about his appointment, Jones expressed his delight to be joining HDI, stating that he is looking forward to playing his role in “continuing the true client-centric culture in place.”

“From an industry perspective, I am passionate about continuing to promote the importance of risk and insurance within the context of all business decisions, looking at ways to attract more new starters into our industry, and highlighting the unique opportunity we all have to be entrusted by Australian businesses and consumers,” Jones said further.
