HDI Global Specialty SE has promoted Frida Kangasniemi (pictured) to the position of head of airline.

As head of airline, Kangasniemi and her team will underwrite the worldwide airline portfolio of HDI Global Specialty SE from their office in Stockholm, Sweden. Kangasniemi replaces Thomas Broms, who retired as head of airline at the end of last year. She most recently served as head of general aviation, and has 16 years of experience working in the aviation market. She joined HDI Global Specialty (then known as Inter Hannover) from Willis Aerospace in 2009.

HDI Global Specialty SE Scandinavia managing director Mats Westerborn commented on the promotion, noting that international airline insurance is the company’s largest portfolio within its aviation business, and that HDI Global Specialty SE has been writing the insurance out of Stockholm since 1970.

“I am confident and pleased that we can build on the legacy of Thomas Broms’ long and successful career and pass the responsibility for this important portfolio to Frida’s capable hands,” said Westerborn. “Bringing new energy to the team, she has a proven track record as an aviation underwriter and is highly respected in the market.”
