Specialist global insurer Hiscox has announced the appointment of James Millard as its chief investment officer. In his new role, Millard will be responsible for overseeing US$6.4 billion in assets, implementing the group’s overall investment policy and directing all portfolio management, research, trading and strategy. He will be based in London and will report to Aki Hussain, group chief financial officer.
Prior to joining Hiscox, Millard served as co-head of multi-manager strategies at Aberdeen Standard Investments. Prior to that, he served as chief investment officer at Skandia Investment Group until its merger with Old Mutual Asset Managers, where he became director of investments and a member of the executive management team at Old Mutual Global Investments.
