Applications are now open for IAG's graduate program, which will start in February 2024.

The IAG 2024 Graduate Program aims to help recent university graduates who want to kickstart their career in the general insurance industry in Australia and New Zealand. The participants will experience three rotations for 18 months, addressing complex issues across various business areas at IAG.

IAG provides graduates with professional development support and educational workshops through IAG Academy, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning. With the insurer supporting flexible working, the graduate program offers the same benefits as other permanent employees, including:

  • Competitive base salary, performance-based bonus, and 13% superannuation;
  • Up to 50% discount on insurance products;
  • Discounts from IAG's corporate partners; and
  • Flexible work and leave options.

The graduate program includes four stages in the recruitment process:

  • Application (includes CV and academic transcript);
  • Online capability assessment;
  • Video interview; and
  • Engagement day.

What to expect from IAG's graduate program

Collin Zhang is a current group technology graduate and part of IAG's 2022 program intake. In an interview with IAG, he said the insurance giant's purpose was one of his reasons for joining the graduate program.

“What attracted me to IAG is [its] excellence in supporting inclusion and diversity in the workplace as well as [its] commitment to building a safer world for everyone,” he said. “IAG's rotational 18-month graduate program also gave us the opportunity to experience different parts of the industry and equipped us with more well-rounded skills.”

 “During the first week, we had an induction, which was a lot of fun in helping graduates ease in and become acquainted with IAG,” he said.

“Getting together with the other graduates, we had workshops that gave us an overview of IAG as a company and what we should expect as graduates.”

The best thing about the grad program, according to Zhang, is “the connections you build throughout your rotations” and the opportunity to add to your professional network.

Johanna Kennedy, who received a double degree in commerce (finance) and information systems from the University of New South Wales, began as a graduate in IAG's data, risk, and resilience division in 2022.

 “In our first week, we had a full orientation to learn about IAG's culture and the different teams in the business,” Kennedy said.

“The leaders explained all the different ways to get involved with company activities and learning opportunities.”

Applications for the 2024 IAG Graduate Program close on March 5, 2023.
