Insurance CEO makes major move

One of the most experienced insurance professionals in the market is set to make a major move in early 2020, stepping away from a CEO position to join HDI Global.

Willem van Wyk, currently the Pacific CEO for Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality (AGCS), was named as HDI’s first regional market manager earlier today.

Wyk already has a strong connection to HDI, having worked with the organisation’s current MD, Stefan Feldmann, when AGCS was first launched back in 2005.

“From my point of view, Willem is probably the best market manager in the Australian market, and I am extremely excited to work with him again,” Feldmann told Insurance Business.

Since starting his career with CGU in South Africa, Wyk has held a variety of increasingly senior positions around the world – including a three-year stint in Dubai for brokerage giant Marsh.

“Willem is a highly experienced professional and very well known throughout the region,” added Feldmann. “I am thrilled that he is joining our growing regional team in Australasia and ASEAN.”
