A pair of appointments have been announced across the Australian insurance industry.

In broking, Knightcorp has added two senior leaders as it expands its enterprise, specialty and corporate capabilities, while Tesla Australia & New Zealand has brought in an experienced insurance executive to collaborate with insurers and improve repair and claims outcomes for electric vehicle owners.

Knightcorp appoints enterprise, specialty and corporate leadership

Knightcorp has appointed Andrew Dawson (pictured left) as head of enterprise and specialty and Craig Anderson (pictured right) as corporate manager, moves the firm said are aimed at accelerating growth and building a more scalable model for increasingly complex clients. The Australian independent broker said the appointments reflect a deliberate investment in leadership, specialist capability and client delivery as it broadens support for mid-market and enterprise businesses.

Dawson brings more than 20 years of experience across Australian and international insurance markets, including senior roles at Insurance House, Marsh and Willis Towers Watson. His background spans enterprise client leadership, financial lines and complex placements across Australia, New Zealand, London, Bermuda and Singapore. Knightcorp said he will lead large, complex and multinational programmes, as well as financial lines and people and workplace risk. Anderson, meanwhile, joins with more than 20 years of experience across corporate, SME and affinity portfolios, most recently in senior roles within the Austbrokers network.

Chief executive Trent Brown said the appointments form part of a broader effort to build for where the market is heading rather than where it has been. The firm said its growth strategy centres on capability and leadership density rather than turnover, particularly as more Australian businesses expand internationally and require more connected risk advice.

Tesla names insurance business manager for ANZ

Tesla Australia & New Zealand has appointed Paul Sofronoff as insurance business manager ANZ, bringing in a long-time insurance executive to strengthen relationships with insurers across Australia and New Zealand. Sofronoff has more than two decades of automotive insurance experience and has held senior leadership roles at Suncorp Group. Most recently, he served as chief insurance officer at RACT.

Tesla said Sofronoff’s background spans the general insurance value chain, including motor claims, repairer partnerships and technology-enabled transformation. He has also served as a non-executive director at the Insurance Council of Australia, giving him a wider industry perspective.

The company said his appointment is intended to deepen and expand Tesla’s relationships with insurers as insurance repairs play a role in reducing the overall cost of ownership.
