Insurer makes new hire, hints at new broker initiatives

An insurance company has nabbed a key broker-facing executive from a major rival, while hinting it is working on new initiatives for brokers.

Zurich has appointed former Allianz Victorian distribution manager, Ross MacCullum, to state distribution manager for Victoria and Tasmania.

MacCallum has more than 14 years’ experience. He comes to Zurich from Allianz where he managed the sales & distribution team in Melbourne and prior to this he was the national cluster manager based out of Sydney, where he developed and delivered on key sales strategies across broker cluster groups and authorised representative networks.

Chris O’Connor, Zurich state manager of Victoria and Tasmania, said MacCallum is well known and highly regarded among brokers, and that his appointment is the insurer’s way of building on its success of 2013 when it was voted Insurance Business Insurer of the Year and NIBA General Insurer of the Year and .

O’Connor said Zurich is implementing several key initiatives designed to enhance the broker experience and continues to invest in broker relationships.

MacCallum begins his new role on 24 June.
