Insurer replaces Lloyd’s partnership with local underwriter

The insurance company has entered into a multi-year partnership with a locally-based carrier in a bid to boost market share.

Calliden Agency Services Limited trading as Mansions of Australia has chosen Ace Insurance to underwrite its prestige home and contents insurance policies in a “multi-year partnership”, effective from 1 January, 2014.

It brings to an end Calliden’s 15-year relationship with Lloyd’s on Mansions policies, on which R J Kiln & Co was the lead syndicate.

Calliden undertook a thorough review of options of the Mansions business before deciding to work with a locally-based carrier. Both Ace and Calliden have signalled plans to increase their share of the home insurance market.

Mike Hooton, group executive: Agency Services, said: “The new agreement with Ace enables us to invest in Mansions long term, with the intention to grow our share of the prestige home insurance in Australia. We would like to thank Lloyd’s and R J kiln & Co in particular for their past support of Mansions.

“The Mansions service team will remain the same and there are no changes to the contacts or procedures for underwriting, claims and accounts.”
