GIO Workers Compensation has strengthened its national approach to workers’ compensation with the appointment of former broker Guy Stewart to the newly created position of national portfolio underwriting specialist.

Prior to the appointment, Stewart served as the underwriting manager – ACT/National Accounts for GIO Workers Compensation and previously worked as an insurance broker.

His new role is designed to give GIO a “holistic” overview on pricing and underwriting expertise across the various states.

“Guy brings a significant amount of underwriting experience to this new position and is well versed on the importance of a national approach,” said Jason Allison, GIO’s chief of workers compensation portfolio and underwriting.

Stewart will be based in Sydney and will work closely with Tony Vidler and Allan Whitehead, who continue to look after the western and eastern jurisdictions respectively.
