International insurer AGCS boosts regional team

An international insurer has announced that it has hired a new regional manager for a key strand of its business

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has announced a new regional claims manager for its business in the Pacific region.

Derek Martin has been appointed to the role and will join the business from Zurich on June 1.

Martin will replace Joerg Ahrens who recently returned to Munich to become global head of key case management and Holger Schaefer, AGCS Pacific CEO, said the addition of Martin will help the business build on its solid reputation.

"Derek is extremely well regarded in the claims community across the Asia Pacific region and came highly recommended,” Schaefer.

“He is a very engaging and technically astute claims professional and we are very excited about him joining our team.”

In his new role, Martin will help the AGCS business remain a leader in the field and Schaefer said that the ability to attract a high calibre of staff shows the progress the business has made in its five years in the Australian market.

“Derek will develop and implement strategies that will continue to position AGCS as a market leader in the provision of claims service.

“AGCS's ability to attract key personnel is a testament to the business we have built in Australia over the last 5 years and we look forward to building an even stronger proposition for the future.”

At Zurich, was chief claims officer, global corporate Asia Pacific and in his new role he will be based in Sydney.
