Liberty Mutual Insurance has announced the appointment of Maria Grace (pictured above) to the newly created position of global product leader, property. Grace will assume the role effective Jan. 3. She will report to Matthew Moore, president of underwriting for Global Risk Solutions (GRS).

In her new role, Grace will be responsible for the profit and loss of property. She will also set global product strategy, monitor portfolio performance and work with the chief underwriting officer of each GRS business unit, the company said.

“Maria’s appointment completes the global product leader team within the Office of Underwriting, which also includes global product leader, casualty Noel MacCarthy and global product leader, financial lines Tom Leahy,” Moore said. “This team joins with other dedicated underwriting professionals to add value to brokers, partners and clients by bringing our global expertise and resources to help better manage complex and emerging risks.

Grace has more than 15 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, she served as global chief underwriting officer for property and head of international property at Everest Re Group.

Grace is Liberty Mutual’s latest addition to GRS. Earlier this month, the company hired Rachel Conran as chief underwriting officer for Liberty Specialty Markets. In August, the company appointed Kevin Smith as president of GRS North America.

Liberty Mutual formed the GRS Office of Underwriting earlier this year.
