Major insurer QBE reveals three key hires

A major Australian insurer has revealed three key leadership appointments to its intermediary distribution business.

QBE has announced three key leadership appointments within its intermediary distribution business.

The major insurer has appointed Jason Hammond to the newly created, Sydney-based role of general manager, broker distribution, while Geoff Cutting will take up the role of national operations manager and will be based in Melbourne.

Peter Klemt has been appointed to the role of general manager, business development for intermediary distribution and will also be based in Sydney.

Jason Clarke, QBE Australia’s executive general manager for intermediary distribution, said the appointments will help the business innovate and develop as it moves forward.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Jason, Geoff and Peter join our ID Leadership Team,” Clarke said.

“They will deliver critical skills to our business as we continue to seek innovative solutions to respond to our customers and market conditions.

“We are proud of our strong relationships in the broker market. These new appointments represent our commitment to finding new ways to use our global capabilities to provide customers with flexible solutions and support.”

Hammond has more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry and previously spent nine years as QBE’s general manager of workers compensation and will continue to lead this unit until a replacement is found.

Cutting has more than two decades experience with QBE and will be responsible for operational excellence, planning and performance across the intermediary distribution business whilst Klemt has 30 years’ industry experience with 15 years at QBE and will manage strategic relationships to deliver profitable growth initiatives.
