Following an extensive tender process, MetLife has been selected as insurance partner of Tasplan, Tasmania’s only industry super fund, to provide its 145,000 members innovative and affordable insurance offerings.

“MetLife demonstrated its ability to form a unique partnership that aligns with our values and addresses the specific needs of the fund,” said Nick Connor, Tasplan’s chief operations officer. “We know the proposed federal budget changes to insurance inside super adds another level of complexity and uncertainty, and we identified the need to partner with an organisation that can respond to these changes and evolve with us and our members. … The member experience is critically important to Tasplan, and the ability to offer digital solutions that make the process of both applying and claiming fast and easy, was also high on our priority list.”

MetLife said it will be working with Tasplan over the transition period to identify the best way forward, with consideration of the expected budget changes.

“Obviously, we’re delighted to be chosen as their insurance partner, and we believe that strong cultural fit and customer focus will give Tasplan’s members a great insurance inside super offering,” said Vince Watt, MetLife acting chief executive officer. “We know there is no ‘one size fits all’, and we look forward to working with Tasplan to deliver something really special for their members.”
